Do you ever look at some certain set of people, guys in particular and wonder, “Oh, why are they not “correct” people? Like, all suited up working in a nice place, responsible, etc. You look at them and wish they did better, looked better, had better. Like why are they street guys popular called in Lagos “agberoes”. This is my dilemma!
Everyday on my way back from work, there’s this park I usually stop and wonder about all of this. I see young abled men, who I feel are supposed to be engaged in meaningful activities doing “street work” and I’m like why?
Now that’s not the interesting part, there’s this one guy in particular who catches my attention, maybe it’s because he looks like my friend Moses. He dresses really well, like really well, looks all good, speaks well and has this charisma, but then he’s out here collecting 20 Naira from keke drivers. I’m like “Dude, don’t you look too good for this?” “Why are you here?” “Why do you parambulate around bus parks? Why don’t you have a “correct” job, like why? 😏🙄🤨Whew!
P.S. So if you stay in Abuja, you might know this guy. You might not. Don’t crack your head that much, it’s not that deep, or is it?
The other day, he caught me looking at him! I noticed my mouth was wide opened I quickly had to close it before anyone noticed 😩😯😣! For like two weeks I did not see him, and I was like huh? What happened to him? Where did he go? Was he sick? Abi he has relocated base. All the other “agberos” weren’t cute so I couldn’t transfer my deep thoughts on anyone but he’s back. I saw him on Monday, all suited up with his “jalabia” and oh, he has pink lips!🤪😜
Not that I’M literary crushing o, my main concern is about his/their choice of lifestyle. Sometimes they tackle bus drivers for money and all. Do you share similar thoughts on this? Have you had any experience with “agberos”
Kindly share your thoughts
