WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY

When you #write and what you write is being perceived as a threat because you brought to light the truth, it is no longer freedom! When you have access to reliable and transparent information but decide to hide it because you’ve been paid to or because you’re faced with challenges that limit you, it’s no longer freedom!

Freedom doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not bound in chains, but one can be free but bound in #fear and uncertainty because they’ve decided to do their job in our sincerity and honesty. Now should this be so? Why should one suffer because of the failure & insensitivity of another?

Again, the importance of information being spread through digital devices cannot be underrated, however, #fakenews has taken a high toll. Why spread something you’re not sure of? Why tarnish the image of another for your own good? How can we ensure that news is filtered and sorted to be true before sharing? How do we even know what is true when a lot of #information changes as with time?Today being the #WorldPressFreedomDay let’s join the @unitednations to:
📍Celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom
📍Defend the media from attacks on their independence
📍Pay tribute to journalist who have lost their lives in the lone of duty.
📍To stop the wild fire spread of #fakenews
📍To stand up for those who are held back from releasing vital information and speak up for the truth!
