Faith Syndrome

“tear down this temple and I will build it in three days…. “ Jesus Christ said. The Jewish Authorities looked at him in spite and disbelief, like who are you to say you’ll build what took 64 years to build in just 3 days!

Jesus demonstrated the importance of keeping your temple in John 2:13-22. Now we’ve been told by the bible “…your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself…” 1 Corinthians 6:19 NLT

Now what’s a temple? It can be referred to as a place regarded as holy or devoted likened to worship of a God. By now you’re like, hmm, don’t go there! I know you want to talk about sexual immorality? Well outsides that, do you also know that your bodies are meant to be subjected to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Eg. When situations around provoke you to react in a certain way, you can decide not to… Or when the Holy Spirit is trying to minister to you but there’s so much chaos in your temple, so much buying and selling, the issues of yesterday, the worries of today, the thoughts of tomorrow create so much tension that it makes it so difficult for God to lead you and show you a way of escape… Do you also know that we spend so much time devoting to other physical activities like yoga, fitness, skin therapy etc to our bodies that we slightly miss it. Are these wrong? Oh NO! In fact, I’m on a program called Internment Fasting where I go without food for some hours just to have a flat tummy 😥😭😢 honestly ehn, it’s not easy! I’ve even delegated time for a yoga session, I’ve stopped taking soda drinks and make lemon & ginger water my new drink….

What is happening in your temple? Have the trials and temptations settled down comfortably with no intentions of taking a vacation? Your temple is so busy with the things that don’t matter that you’ve neglected the purpose of its original goal which is to worship God! Is your temple being used for other motives instead of the original plan since creation? When you notice that something isn’t right you take necessary actions to making it right! That’s how it’s meant to be with our spiritual work! If there’s one thing I’ve learnt is that the Holy Spirit is ever ready to purge out whatever it is that’s preventing us from worshiping God! But we have to decide that we want Him to be in charge! Most times we feel we’re too soaked in that thing or habit that we will never come out! Well, like I tell myself, just try and take a step towards coming out today, don’t think of how you’ll come out tomorrow just focus on making that change for today, then when tomorrow comes you’ll see how it goes! We need to consciously make efforts to keep off anything that will cause our temple not to be on point at all times.
It’s really not an easy thing, but like He said – Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9a NLT
