Cleanliness is next to Godliness, and as we all know the year 2018 has given us a full glimpse of it’s early season. It brought us different experiences and moments since its beginning and now the first quarter will soon take a bow, whew! How did we get here? During these times, people who couldn’t clear off old stock they left to roll into the new year adjust their “purses” and decide to do so. Resolutions and yearly goals have started taking place or falling out, regrets and mistakes are memories learned while new characters and behaviours that we promised to display are still sticking around…..
Oh well, this leads me to the importance of getting your home ready for the New Year, even though it’s the close to the end of the first quarter, it’s not too late to start.

1. Do a survey.

There are things you’ve not worn or corners you’ve not visited in a while (maybe the attic or garage or store) which has been crying for your attention. Now is the time to do a survey of such areas and see what you can find. My bet is you’d find that book you’ve been looking for or the other pair of shoes that got missing. Either ways you’d have the opportunity of cleaning and gathering the items you don’t wanna use and creating space for fresh air to have dominion in your home.

2. Make a list

Once you’re done with the survey, gather everything and make a sincere list of the unwanted stuffs. Now these should come in the list of: A) Things that are worn out and old. B) things that are still useful but don’t interest me anymore. C) things I still need to keep. D) things I like but need to let go.

3. Package

Gather these items in boxes or bags and tag them appropriately. Fulfill the promise by doing the needful. Locate any Charity Organization or NGO that you can donate these stuffs to. Put it up as special New Year gifts for friends and loved ones.

4. Clean

At this point, the house is free from unwanted stuffs and you can finally clean. Take note of angles and corners. It’s the dry season along comes with it dust, be mindful to check windows, fans etc. Now is the time to for your curtains, blinds to get a redemption. Air your clothes especially those stored up in boxes and bags, and watch out for cobwebs. You can decide to repaint to brighten up the house or redesign a particular spot for a new fresh look. It’s also advisable to change your bed sheets: if they’ve been in existence for quite some time (new year, new things 😉) and this is is where you can contact me for your sheets!

5. Arrange

After cleaning, you’re finally up for the New Year. Arrange or re arrange your home to give you a new look. Be mindful not to get too many stuffs that’ll be thrown in the store and never used. Always get the necessary.

I can’t wait to see how you’ve transformed your home in preparation for the Year. Success all the way.

Sometimes it gets so difficult to do this alone, you can employ the services of an interior designer or decorator to ease you off the stress, and that’s what I’m here for 😉.

Do you have more tips? You can send us an email with pictures showing us how you did yours.
