Hey guys…. 

It’s the 2nd month of the year, popular called ‘The Lovers Month’. How does work feel like? Same old system and schedule? Well it doesn’t have to be so.

Recently, my boss restructured our working systems and grouped us into teams and assigned each team to come up with a social activity for each week. Yippee! So here’s what I thought about to ignite fun times at work. Trust me some of these ideas cost nothing while some do but then it’s achievable.

Before, we ride on, You’ve probably heard that a happy employee is a productive one. Some numbers say so too:

Gallup – 33% higher profitability

HBR – 125% less burnout

Hay Group – 43% more productivity

Forbes – 66% decrease in sick leave

HBR – 300% more inninnovation

The very first thing I believe is that one should first be happy. You cannot give what you dont have! Don’t come to the office all frowns and tight faced. Create Your Own Happiness Culture. Gross explains that “The idea that happiness at work in life starts with you”. The centre spot is the “me” factor. Next comes the “we” circle which can include family, friends, coworkers and the outer circle/community for all the people that affect your job. By putting g yourself in the middle, you begin to see how much your own personal values influence Thise around you.  Alignment with those important things to you with your “we” and “community”, will make your work more fulfilling, your partnership stronger, and your impact on the world greater.

You need to be happy inside before you can be happy on the outside don’t get too carried away by being too serious that you leave the happy face only for when you leave the office.

Secondly, Have A Social Committee 

Whether it’s the general welfare team or a random grouping of all employees, there needs to be a good amount of planning for such activities.

Thirdly, Plan A Budget

Nothing too outrageous, depending on what’s needed. You can do a little contribution on the social day with respect to the theme or menu. You know we’re all saving and trying to be smart money men and women, so……

Next, Do Games

Ok, there are simple easy office setting games you can involve your colleagues with. Ice breakers, quizzes, brain teasers and all. Not for the purpose of competing though, but just for fun. I’m currently working on acting a 3minutes drama in the office next week, sssh don’t tell my colleagues
Group Exercises. 

Ermm, it’s at this junction that I’m not to sure if I’ll participate without a motivation 😂. Either ways, it’s healthier to organize group walks, runs, yoga and meditations in the office and on a weekend.

In-house Trainings

The senior management can send a memo askin employees  for areas where they’ll need trainings on, and organize one using seasoned individuals from the organization or outside to actualize this. This can serve as a means of motivation for the employees. Giving each employee a chance to train on their best skills can increase productivity.

Organize Fun Events

Indoor events like pizza hour, ice-cream rounds, communal lunch, DIY sessions, Gifting day (where each person randomly picks another person and gets a gift), colour and cultural day (themed day).

Outdoor events like movie nights, couple and singles night, boot camps, sports competitions, field trips, buffet

Celebrate Your Employees 

Well, like a shout-out for hitting target, and exceeding target. A commendation on punctuality, integrity and creativity. You can send a general email and memo including the names of the employees who made a difference each week. This is a sure way to boost morale and instill loyalty
Volunteer Together 

Like a one paid day off a quarter to volunteer somewhere? Like visit the vulnerable and less privileged? Like engage in community service? This shows the importance of giving back.

Bring Out Employees In Company Swag

By imprinting an employees name on a quality shirt with the company logo brings a feel of bonding.

And yes, these are just some ideas, and I know there’s only one thing left for you to say:

“Excuse me ma’am, there’s this great article I just read”

Plus you can tell us about fun thing to do in the office.
