January 2, 2018 | Goal Setting.
Let’s talk? How was 2017?
Firstly, I’d say I enter totally clueless. I just went with the ebb and flow of new year things. Literally, I didn’t really know what exactly I wanted. All I knew was that a new Year was here and I’m going to make it happen.
I had lists of things I wanted to do and have, but no direction.
But one thing I can boldly say is that I learnt, a lot. More than I have in years. Now, I’m not talking about pure intellectual knowledge. I did get some of that, but above all, I got insight into God’s word and my spirit man opened more to receive from God than it had ever done.
Now, 2018 is here. How many of us feel New Year resolutions are overrated? Why do we all jump into the bandwagon of New Year resolutions without fully understanding the purpose?
From the previous years, I’ve understood that there are some major factors we need to put in place when making resolutions.
1. SELF AUDIT
This happens when we sincerely sit down and talk to ourselves. What do I even want to do with my life this year? What do I want to achieve? What habits am I willing to part with this year?
2. WRITE THE GOALS.
The thing with writing is that it has a way of keeping you committed. Each time you go back to that journal there’s a reminder of a to-do. Habakkuk 2:2 NKJV – Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
The power of prayer cannot be neglected. In achieving your goals, beyond the physical there’s need for help from above. It will get challenging as the year unfolds, but the Holy Spirit strengthens us to forge ahead. Matthew 21:22 KJV – “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
So instead of jumping in and following the trend of New Year resolutions, be sure why you need one, and be ready to stay committed.
See you at the top!
